Love Lines

Ever have a friend call you up and ask if you can call the Vivid telephone number that she gives you to cancel the membership that her son decided to sign up for with her credit card number? No? Well apparently I am that friend you can call that will call to take care of that kind of business. If you have no idea what I am talking about, enjoy that corner of the world you live in. Me apparently I have no shame about porn stars and such and had a very good laugh with the lady on the phone about the situation. Given her reaction I am thinking that this kind of call happens a lot. Boys and porn seem to go hand in hand.

Beyond porn the other highlight of my week was finding one of my new favorite shopping sites Terrain. It has so much stuff that I want that I don't even know where to start. How about the things I didn't even know I needed until I went to that site? I think that is a very good place to start.

Fresh Pumpkin Crate
Like you don't want this. Please. It's fabulous.

Verdant Terrarium
Maybe it's my thing with jars, but if I was going to have a terrarium this
would be what I would want it in.

St. Helena Martini Olive Juice
My friend J and I will need to be checking this out when she rolls
into town. Dirty Martini's here we come!

Ceramic Salt and Pepper Set
I would use the crap out of these.

ElderFlower Presse
I don't event know if I like this, but the bottle
is adorable and you can add it to vodka.
Always worth a try.

I should actually just cut and paste the entire site on here to make it easier, because I could go on and on. Check it out and let me know your favorite pieces! I would love to hear what you think.

Have a great weekend and if you can, avoid carmageddon II. I hear it's going to be a bit nuts.

Fryeday! Fryeday!

While we were in transition between Seattle and our new house my stuff was in storage, in the dark and all alone for months. In the last two weeks we have opened every box, shook off the dust and put everything in it's place. We are still missing a few things around the house and the walls are still a little bare, but every room is set and can be used for it's intended purpose (including this room, thankyouverymuch I got it done). The next few weeks (or months) we will fill in the missing pieces and hang some pictures, but frankly I am all good with it for now and not to mention tired of decorating. Seriously it sounds fun in the beginning, but it is a lot of work and no one is paying me for it so I am over it. So to celebrate all of my things being let out into the light I decided to highlight a few of my favorite things that I am so happy to see again after such a long time apart.

I love my Frye boots and they are happy to be out!

My mason jars are all here and accounted for.
This one is currently being used to make
strawberry vodka. Click here for the recipe.

Last weekend I received a bulb
for the camera. So excited to try it out.

Hat boxes and purses! Yay! Love all my hats
and purses, but you can only take so many
on the road.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Wu for You

In case you haven't heard Jason Wu is the latest collaborator with Target. While his collection debut did not crash the site, I think it is an incredibly wearable, cute and most importantly affordable. When the Missoni debacle happened I really thought to myself why in the world is everyone freaking out. There are some cute items, but I am not going to fight people in the store to get it. With the Jason Wu collection there are a few items that I might get a little grabby over. Like this dress for example. How cute would it be with flats and a cardi?

And this yellow is a great pop of color for any outfit. You can tone it down by using a jacket or cardigan with it or wear it on it's own with a pair of jeans. Perfect.

And this trench. I love it!

It's definitely worth a glance if you happen to be in the Target area or just want a few inexpensive fun pieces for Spring. If clothes aren't your thing there are accessories too. Everyone needs a kitty bag, right?

LaLa Land & the Beach

I was so excited that my friend Joanna came to visit me here in La Jolla over the weekend. I promised her it would be a great place to relax, be a little bit degenerate and just have some good old fashioned girl time (which it was and is...PAM). When I picked her up at the airport she mentioned she had never been to LA. Since we had planned on doing some house hunting for me while she was here up in the Laguna 'hood I thought what's an hour more drive up to LA. After asking her what she really wanted to see up there she decided on wanting to see Hollywood (Just as a note if you have never been to Hollywood, please trust me in that you are not missing a darn thing. Seriously it's two block of weirdos. And that is coming from me, a total weirdo calling others weirdos.). I warned her that it is a pit and she might be disappointed, but she wanted to go and who am I to tell her no. Lovely day, promise of good food (dropping in on the parents) and seeing all the crazies out on Hollywood Blvd, I can think of worse things to do on a pretty Sunday. Needless to say she was a little disappointed at the Walk of Fame and the Grauman's Chinese Theater but we had a fabulous lunch at Aroma's  on Sunset Blvd and drove through Beverly Hills ending up at Redondo Beach just as the sun was going down. It was a fun visit and reminded me that sometimes you just need to be a tourist in your own town.

I just love this shot. It was a pretty day!

Just a small sampling of the "characters" on the street. Zoro, Spiderman and Cookie Monster.
Wonder Woman (not pictured) was my favorite.

Doing a little retail therapy.
I love this photo of Jo. She didn't know I was taking the photo as
she was taking off her sweater to enjoy the sun.

Gotta love Shatner!

Jo at the Chinese Theater
Jimmy Stewart. They all had such tiny hands and feet!

At the beach caves in La Jolla.

Cozy Up

So I am off to Amsterdam today to catch up with some friends and do some super touristy stuff around the city. I will definitely post some photos tomorrow or Wednesday. In the meantime I cam across this totally helpful tutorial (via the Average Girls Guide) on 25 ways to wear a scarf in 4.5 minutes. It's getting colder out and I love accessorizing with scarfs. They add that little bit of cozy and warm I almost always require (forever cold no matter where I am). I am rocking the men's tie today, tomorrow infinity. WooHoo.

Return of the lady like elegance

A friend of mine recently went shopping with me and was mentioning that we are really starting to see the return of lady like elegance. Well I love the thought of that (since you will find me in dresses more often than not) so I put together my wish I could have it dream outfit for fall. I love the combination of colors and would totally rock this out. You could also change this up with tights and brown boots (or booties) for a slightly edgier (blatant use of overused word) look.

Oh also someone showed me Polyvore. It's like showing your cat where you hide the catnip and walking away. I will be on this site until I pass out from the high I am getting from creating outfits!

Raise your pink glass

I enjoy wine. With dinner, with friends, with life. Trust me when I say life and wine will happen on a regular basis in this household. With that there are classes of wine for each occasion, but with summer around the corner I am waiting for the first rosé to grace my house. This is hands down one of my favorite summer wines and while I am not Oenologist I do know what I like, so that's a start. First if you do not already know rosé and white zinfandel are not the same thing at all. White zin is known for being a sugary sweet "starter" wine with no complexity. Rosé can be dry with subtle fruit tastes and compliments a variety of foods. Also it is amazing to have on hot summer day with my favorite go to dinner of cheese, breads, compotes, fruits and olives! So to celebrate the soon to be summer I wanted to share a few of my favorite kinds of rosé and hope you give this pink drink a chance.

This is really one of my favorites. Berry flavors and
really crisp when served chilled. Pretty bottle too!

This is the wine that started my love of rosé.
While in Napa we had a lunch event at this winery and this
was one of the best things I had tasted while there. A little on the
expensive side for rosé, but well worth it.

This lovely wine can be found at your nearest Trader Joes
and it is a perfect compliment to any summer gathering.
Can't beat the price either! Photo via ViniVino

And last but not least, while it is not Rosé, this is a super fun and awesome party addition.
